Inland Empire Stages usually tries to hold a couple of coaches aside for Youth & Government events, so if you’re looking for a bus, please contact kipsturgeon@me.com.

Large groups of students can mean large amounts of luggage, lots of noise, and a transportation nightmare. Getting students to and from the airport quickly and safely has always been a challenge at YMCA conferences. For the past several years, SuperShuttle has made our transportation a breeze. For their outstanding customer service, even in the face of rowdy teens, Youth & Government happily endorses SuperShuttle.

If you’re trying to make a reservation, use these forms:

If you’re an individual or a small group traveling to an event, we can help you find people to rideshare with.

First, check our “Rides Being Offered” list to see if anyone is already offering a ride that matches your needs.

If there isn’t a match, don’t worry; most people don’t post their available seats on the site (lazy bums). There’s almost always a stray seat or two on someone’s bus or in someone’s car, and if you send us your itinerary, we’ll send out a request on your behalf.

To request a ride, just click the “contact” tab above, and let us know:

what event you need a ride to

how many seats you’re looking for

where you will be departing from (what city, what neighborhood)

when you need to depart and when you need to return

We will send your request out to our mailing list of other YMCA groups in your area. We can’t guarantee a match, but we’ll do our best!

If you do find a ride, fantastic!, but please always wear your seat belt and only accept rides from people that you feel comfortable traveling with. While accidents cannot usually be anticipated, YMCATravel.org wants all YMCA volunteers and participants to travel safely. We do not have any knowledge of the driving skills, background, or insurance levels of any YMCA volunteers or participants, so please use your best judgment and act at your own discretion.

Meeting new people and hanging out with old friends is what makes YMCA events so much fun. So, why wait until you arrive to start the bonding, when you can maximize your socializing with a roadtrip? Sharing a ride is cheaper, better for the planet, and gives you (legal) access to the coveted carpool lane.

Whether you’re a solo traveler looking for an empty seat or a small group trying to cut down your transportation costs, ridesharing/carpooling can be a very practical way to get to and from YMCA events affordably. It’s also great for our environment, and a fantastic way to meet new people!

One of our main objectives on this website is to match people up for ridesharing to events. If you have empty seats in your car or bus, click the “contact” tab and send us the details of your route, including how many seats you have available and how much money a passenger should expect to pay for splitting the ride with you.

If you’re interested in finding available rides, check out these sections of the site:

Southwest Airlines is not only one of the most affordable ways to fly, but it’s also the most flexible. Here are some of the benefits of Southwest:

If you have to cancel a ticket at the last minute, you can re-use 100% of the ticket value as credit toward another flight

There are constantly “on sale” fares to loads of popular destinations

The seating is not assigned, so groups that check-in early online can usually find seats together

Did we mention that it’s cheap?

You can checkout regular Southwest fares at: http://www.southwest.com

If you’re looking for a great price, install their “Ding!” software — it alerts you of special sale price every day: http://www.southwest.com/ding/

Thought it’s usually not as cheap as finding a good sale price, Southwest’s Group Travel department makes reservations very easy, and they offer options for changing passenger names at the last minute: http://www.southwest.com/programs_services/groups/groups.html

Traveling to and from Youth & Government events can be expensive and complicated. This site is dedicated to explaining your options and simplifying your planning.

Information on this website has been compiled by volunteers, in order to simplify your YMCA travel planning. We hope that the information presented here can help YMCA groups organize their transit more conveniently and affordably. To this end, we’ve compiled several transportation options for getting to and from your events, and we often encourage groups to consider methods outside of the regular charter bus rental — planes, trains, or ridesharing, for example.

This is not a profit-generating website, though we’re not against the idea of using it as a YMCA fundraiser. If a transit company does offer a referral marketing program, we will contribute the proceeds back to California YMCA Youth & Government. So, you can rest assured that your support of this site is also helping a valuable cause.

The information provided on this site is accurate, to the best of our knowledge. If you find information that is incorrect, or if you’d like to contribute new information, please click on the “contact” tab above and let us know. We value your feedback.

If you do find a ride through our site, fantastic!, but please always wear your seat belt and only accept rides from people that you feel comfortable traveling with. While accidents cannot usually be anticipated, YMCATravel.org wants all YMCA volunteers and participants to travel safely. We do not have any knowledge of the driving skills, background, or insurance levels of any YMCA volunteers or participants, so please use your best judgment and act at your own discretion.

Thank you for visiting, and safe travels!
