First, check our “Rides Being Offered” list to see if anyone is already offering a ride that matches your needs.

If there isn’t a match, don’t worry; most people don’t post their available seats on the site (lazy bums).  There’s almost always a stray seat or two on someone’s bus or in someone’s car, and if you send us your itinerary, we’ll send out a request on your behalf.

To request a ride, just fill out the Request a Ride Form.

We will send your request out to our mailing list of other YMCA groups in your area.  We can’t guarantee a match, but we’ll do our best!

One of our main objectives on this website is to match people up for ridesharing to events.  If you have empty seats in your car or bus, click the “contact” tab and send us the details of your route, including how many seats you have available and how much money a passenger should expect to pay for splitting the ride with you.

• If you have to cancel a ticket at the last minute, you can re-use 100% of the ticket value as credit toward another flight

Arriving by Plane

Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is an easy airport to fly in and out of, though it is about 15-20 minutes away from the downtown Sheraton Grand and Hyatt Regency hotels.  Youth & Government’s preferred airline for flying into Sacramento is Southwest Airlines.  They are very flexible and affordable for our participants, and they serve several airports throughout California.  Once you’ve arrived at the airport, we have coordinated a YMCA rate with SuperShuttle to get you to/from the hotels.  You must make an advanced reservation through our reservation form, if you plan on utilizing SuperShuttle at the airport:

Arriving By Train

If you’re coming from the Bay Area or Central Valley, Amtrak is a very nice way to get to Sacramento.  From the Bay Area, you can skip traffic by taking the Capitol Corridor train — the train is very relaxing and even offers internet connectivity. 

If you’re coming from the East Bay or Central Valley, you can take the San Joaquin route.  A combination of Amtrak trains and buses serve this area, so there are multiple timetables and options for this route.

Once in Sacramento, the train station is just under a mile away from the Sheraton Grand and Hyatt Regency.  If your party is small enough, you can easily catch a cab in front of the train station.  If you have a larger group, please click on the “contact” tab above and let us know that you’d like to coordinate a shuttle from the Amtrak station to the hotels.

Arriving By Car

If you choose to drive to the conference, valet and self-parking are available at each of the hotels.  There are also a handful of off-site parking lots nearby.  Street parking is limited, and near the Capitol, most of it is metered.  Hertz, Enterprise, and Avis car rental companies all have offices within a few blocks of the Sheraton Grand and Hyatt Regency hotels.
